Chris Hambrecht

Director of Design ()

Chris Hambrecht began his career in the design and building industry in 1993 following his graduation from The Catholic University of America's School of Architecture in Washington, D.C.. He joined Brookfield Homes as a Construction Superintendent responsible for the management, scheduling and production of both single family and town home communities in the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area. He later joined Stanley Martin Homes as Architectural Manager, utilizing his architectural training as well as his knowledge of construction. At Winchester Homes Chris was responsible for managing client requests for architectural changes (Your Home Your Way) as well as managing a portfolio of products designed by multiple architectural firms.

After a firm foundation in new home building, Chris transitioned his career to the home remodeling industry and worked as a Design/Build Project Designer for Case Design Remodeling, Bethesda, MD for several years and joined Summit Design Remodeling in 2010. His portfolio includes residential additions, renovations and custom homes. Recently, one of his renovation projects, a Bethesda second-story addition, was featured on the cover of Home Improvement Magazine and won a number of awards for a recent detached garage project in Falls Church, VA.

Chris is active in the volunteer maintenance program for assisting low-income homeowners, Rebuilding Together Montgomery County, Maryland.

Chris has combined his love of his church and his hobby of cartooning into an inspirational monthly cartoon that is received by over 600 churches and websites around the world with translations into four languages. The cartoons are then published in church bulletins or brochures. (www.emdoodle.com)
Chris, his wife, Kathy, and their three young children, Ellie, Grace, and Sam live in Silver Spring, Maryland, in the home he designed and built.

Chris's wife Kathy is also a founder and volunteer of the House of Hope of Maryland which is a non-profit organization to help at-risk teens between the ages of 13 to 17 years old and their families. House of Hope (houseofhopemaryland.org) offers Christian counseling, education and life skills building for at-risk teens so they can become productive members of society.

Laurie Crum

Vice President & Design Consultant ()

Co-owner, Laurie Crum, manages interior space planning and materials selections for each project. She works directly with our clients to select all of the elements that go into your project - such as cabinetry, countertops, tile, flooring, fixtures, appliances - and the details that go along with each. Laurie has a keen eye for both design and function.

Laurie has considerable experience designing speculative and custom homes as well as remodeling projects and enjoys working with clients to capture their specific vision for their home. When it comes to choosing various building products such as cabinetry, flooring, lighting, and colors, there are many things to choose from and often an overwhelming number of choices. Laurie can assist you through this maze and guide you to components that are not only cost effective, durable, and environmentally friendly, but work well together.

Laurie also has an extensive background in the rehabilitation industry and has a special interest in universal home planning and design and helping seniors to age in place, something that is very important to consider for homeowners of all ages. Laurie has helped clients with physical limitations to overcome the barriers often found in standard construction by performing a customized assessment of the client's abilities and working with them to design a home that is functional as well as beautiful.

When asked about why she enjoys the construction industry so much, she replied, "There are two phases of the remodeling process that are my absolute favorites - the beginning design process where I brainstorm with my clients for the best design of their dreams and then the product selection phase when all of the finishing products are put together and the client gets to see their design come to life. Seeing our client's happy with their remodeled home is what it's all about."
